Sahara for ladies

Remember this awesome pattern that I sewed for my eldest and youngest? This pattern, the Sahara* is now also available in women sizes, and I am showing you my two test versions today. The pattern is released by Bella Sunshine Designs* and they have several Mommy and Me* bundles, so I sewed up another girl Sahara to match with my middle daughter, who clearly can twirl much better than me.

I bought this purple a while ago on clearance sale with the goal to make something for me. I had bought the fabric before and sewed it one of my eldest's favorite dresses. It was washed a lot and the fabric remained nice, so I knew it was a good buy. I was debating with myself if a dress in my size would look better all in purple or with a contrasting bodice. I clearly chose for the contrasting bodice, but for my daughter I went all purple. Which one would you have chosen for yourself?

I did found out that uni-colored fabric makes all lines very visible. I am therefore wearing a top underneath and not a bra. I am planning to buy one of those stay-up-by yourself bra's to avoid lines on the back. The pattern is drafted perfectly such that a normal bra does not show under the curve, so if you have soft bra's and some busy fabric, you are good to go!

The white Sahara bodice is a re-cut from the first test version and therefore slightly different (but you might not really notice) at the shoulders compared to the final design, the mustard/purple one. The fit of both the bodice and length of the skirt of the final pattern are perfect for me, and I did not have to adjust anything. I was gifted the orbs fabric during the first blogmeet and the original gifter was Droomstoffen. As usual I tried to squeeze the skirt out a bit too small fabric piece, so I added an extra seam and the orbs are on the side on the back, but I still love it.

The pattern* is now on sale for $6.50 in the Bella Sunshine Web shop*.  Feel free to leave a comment in the language you prefer (although Google translate might have to assist me if you choose something different than English, German, Dutch or Hungarian). If you buy anything through my affiliate links (*), I get a small commission (the price stays the same for you), I am very grateful for everything that feeds my fabric addiction.

  1. Heel leuk patroontje!
