Montis release

It is that joyful moment again, another release from Sofilantjes*! Today, Anne released the Montis*, an asymmetrical summer dress with two different construction methods for the bodice. One with three straps on the back which is made with a fully lines bodice. The other, a non-lined bodice with the same asymmetrical back as the front. The pattern has one skirt included and all the skirts from the Litore* and Solis* are a perfect fit on the Montis bodice. I made five dresses with this pattern, and today I am showing you two, the only 100% official Montis and a slightly hacked one.

Joepie, het is weer zo ver, Sofilantjes* lanceerde weer een nieuw patroon. Vandaag kwam de Montis* uit, een asymmetrische zomerjurk met twee verschillende constructiemethodes voor het lijfje. De ene optie is een gevoerd lijfje met drie bandjes op de rug, de andere is een ongevoerd lijfje. In het laatste geval is het lijfje afgewerkt met een boordje en is de achterkant identiek aan de voorkant. Het patroon bevat één rok (natuurlijk met zakken) en de rokken van Solis* en Litore passen ook op het Montis lijfje. Ik maakte vijf jurken met het patroon, maar laat er vandaag maar twee voorbij komen. Ik maakte maar 1 jurk 100% volgens het patroon, die laat ik zien en de ander van vandaag heeft het Montis lijfje met een gehackte rok.

Let's start with the 100% Montis. This orange dress just screems summer to me. The bias finish (explained in the pattern) is perfect to add just a little bit of extra contrast (I have some fit pictures without it, but I loved them too much not to add). Although not a full circle, the Montis skirt can spin! It easily passed the twirl test. The big advantage of having the same front as back is that your daughter can not put on her dress backwards. The same advantage as what I mentioned when I showed the Sylva.

Laten we beginnen met die 100% Montis. Deze oranje jurk ademt zomer, ik word er direct vrolijk van. Ik werkte de jurk volgens de instructies af met een bias bandje en dat geeft net een beetje extra pit door die contrasterende kleur (ik had not wat eerdere foto's zonder de afwerking die ik toch ook wilde laten zien). De rok van het patroon slaagde zonder moeite voor de zwiertest. Een groot voordeel van een zelfde voor en achterkant is dat de jurk nooit achterste voren zit, ik noemde hetzelfde voordeel al bij de Sylva die ik hier liet zien.

The other dress that I made has a Montis bodice, the other option as the previous dress, but has a gathered woven skirt. I personally love asymmetrics, and the back with those three straps is just perfect. You can go three different colors, or just plain like I did. For the skirt I simply gathered remnant that I bought at a Cas and Nina into a skirt, without cutting into the piece itself. I gathered the entire width, so 150 cm around the waist. I read that this in-between skirt length is the new trend, but even if it would not be, my daughter really likes it. I think that a gathered woven skirt like this would work for many girls, because the gatherings make the woven skirt stretch as bit. You could also use the Mantica* gathered skirt if you need more guidance.

De andere jurk van vandaag heeft dus het andere Montis lijfje. Het lijfje is gevoerd en heeft drie bandjes op de rug. Ik ben helemaal fan van asymmetrie en die drie bandjes vind ik helemaal geweldig. Je kan ze maken met drie verschillende kleuren, maar ook simpel allemaal in een gedekt kleur. Voor de rok rimpelde ik een restje See You At Six stof (uit die reeds vaak aan bod gekomen restjes doos van Cas en Nina). Ik knipte niks af van het stuk dat ik had, maar rimpelde gewoon de hele stofbreedte. Door het rimpelen wordt een geweven stof precies wat rekbaar en kan daardoor prima aan een rekbaar lijfje. Deze langere rok versie, schijnt in te zijn, maar ook als het niet "in" was had mijn dochter niet gewild dat ik er iets van knipte. Mocht je niet in het wilde weg wat willen rimpelen, kan je ook de Mantica* rok gebruiken qua breedte.

The pockets are of course included in the pattern. I bought the orange cherry fabric from Joyfits, and the bunny fabric was a scrap which was left after I sewed this dress. I had hoped to make something out of those scraps, but had not really felled the inspiration before this plan came along. I really like the combination of the sweet print on the bodice and grown up print in the skirt.

De oranje stof kocht ik bij Joyfits en de konijnenstof bleef over nadat ik deze jurk naaide. Ik had relatief weinig restjes, maar wilde er toch graag iets mee maken voor een van de andere kids. Elke keer voelde ik de klik echter niet, maar nu wel. Ik ben helemaal weg van de combinatie van schattig stofje boven en stoere stof in de rok.
