Sylva release

I am a strong believer of irony. For weeks, I have been showing you spring and summer clothes, while it was cold outside. Today, one of the pieces that I am showing you actually has long sleeves, and of course now the weather turns nice and warm! I loved the long sleeve option too much not to try it and I had started to believe it would remain cold anyway. So as a Maoana/Vaiana reference, "You'r welcome", this nice weather is because of me.

The pattern that I am talking about it the newest one by Sofilantjes*, the Sylva* top and tunic. I sewed two Sylva's, so I hedged my weather bets. Let's first continue to talk about the long sleeved version though. The pattern has two bodice views and this is the one with a double V, one at the front and one at the back. There are three sleeve lengths in the pattern and the long sleeves have a color block on them, and that was what made my summer-only-wardrobe conviction falter. I have a weak spot for color blocks. Good thing that the neckline makes it a spring top, even though it has long sleeves.

The other Sylva that I sewed has the tunic length and a hood with polo closure. I did not put any closure hardware on it, I think it looks great as it is. As the pattern suggests, I put eyelets on the hood and put a cord though it. If you follow me on Instagram you might have seen that those eyelets were a bit expensive. The cord was not though, I love to create my own cords with strings of cotton. It is such an easy trick that I leaned when I was a kid and I love the fact that you can make the exact blend of color that you need.

I bought the blue fabric with kittens a long long time ago. In that time I still bought half a meter fabrics. I have switched to meter pieces now (and sometimes longer). For my eldest daughter I can not cut a shirt from half a meter anymore, but this Sylva pattern shed a new light on my stash. I knew she loved this particular fabric, but I could not envision something from it (except for a dress bodice, but than I would have much leftovers). Due to the color block at the sleeve and the color block in both sides of the bodice, my half a meter worked perfectly (only a tiny strip remains). The tunic was made with fabric printed by Kersenpitje and I bought it last fall at Joyfits. The solid pink, mustard and ribbing are from Textielstad and the solid blue is an upcycled pregnancy waistband.

Due to the release the Sylva* it is now on sale for 5 dollar (excl VAT) for two days only in the Sofilantjes web shop*. Feel free to leave a comment in the language you prefer (although Google translate might have to assist me if you choose something different than English, German, Dutch or Hungarian). If you buy anything through my affiliate links (*), I get a small commission (the price stays the same for you), I am very grateful for everything that feeds my fabric addiction.
