Sahara Sunshine sale

Two weeks ago, I showed you the Josephine from Bella Sunshine designs, which was on special Sunshine sale for just $5.00. Well, today, and only today, the Sahara* is on sale with the same discount! The Sahara is both a top and a dress and the pattern is available both for kids and for ladies. In the past, I already sewed a Sahara for all the girls in our house, but you can never have to many of these so I made another for our middle daughter.

Twee weken geleden liet ik hier de Josephine jurk van Bella Sunshine designs zien, die toen extreem goedkoop was voor één dag. Vandaag is het weer zo'n Sunshine sale dag en vandaag krijg je dezelfde korting op de Sahara*. De Sahara is zowel een top als jurk en het patroon is beschikbaar voor zowel kinderen als volwassenen. Ik naaide voor alle dames in ons huis reeds minimaal één sahara, maar aangezien je er nooit genoeg van kan hebben, naaide ik er nog een voor onze middelste dochter.

Our middle one is a huge fan of wearing trousers with top, but she also loves to twirl. The Shara in top length is therefore perfect for her. Last year, I made our youngest a top, and then I made the skirt part in cotton jersey. That gave a nice peplum effect. This time I used a very flowy viscose jersey with a perfect drape. The fabric therefore falls down rather straight, and it twirls like crazy as well. It is fun to see how fabric choice really affects the look of the garment.

Onze middelste dochter is dol op het dragen van broeken met een tunieken of shirts erop en het liefste moet het geheel dan ook nog eens "dansen". Dat laatste is iets wat normaal gezien alleen jurken echt goed doen, maar de Sahara top sluit helemaal perfect ook bij haar wensen. Ik maakte de rok in soepel vallende viscose tricot en dat valt keurig naar beneden als je staat, maar zwiert ook hoog op. Viscose tricot geeft echt een ander effect dan als je de top maakt met katoen tricot. Voor onze jongste (die toen ook weer een veel kleiner maatje had), maakte ik al een top en dan valt het rokje, door de stevige stof meer als een soort peplum. Bij de volgende ga ik weer voor een soepel vallende stof, ik zag ook bij mijn eigen versie dat dat heel fijn draagt.

Both the top and dress Sahara pair perfectly with leggings. I sewed this particular pair last year and the color was a perfect combi with this top. Zowel de top als de jurk versie combineren perfect met leggings. De legging die ze er op de foto bij aan heeft naaide ik vorig jaar en ik vond de kleur perfect bij passen bij de top. Ondertussen heeft Bella Sunshine echter twee gratis legging patronen uitgegeven. The scooped neckline sits perfectly on our kids' back. The pattern is designed to have a slightly smaller lining such that the lining should never show. I decided to actually use the lining a bit, to play with a minor line of lining fabric. Therefore I did not use the lining pieces, but just doubled the main body piece and I did not under stitch. I personally love the little red stripes showing a tiny bit.

De lage rijguitsnijding zit perfect en verschuift niet. Het patroon is speciaal ontworpen met een iets kleinere voering, daardoor zie je de voering officieel nooit. Ik speelde echter een beetje met het patroon en knipte de voering juist net zo groot als het lijfje. Ik naaide er ook geen onderstiksel op en daardoor zie je precies een klein reepje van de voering. Ik vind dat zelf een erg leuk effect.

The flower fabric is French Terry with a very nice stretch and recovery. I showed the first garment piece that I sewed with the same fabric last weak, this Orbis. Both the flower fabric and the red stripes are from Textielstad. I wrote it before, the pattern, both for children* ($5.00) and for adults* ($6.00) is now on special sale and therefore is just as cheap as it was in the pre-release. De bloemenstof is dezelfde goed flexibele French Terry als die ik vorige week liet zien in de zomerse Orbis die ik naaide. Zowel de bloemenstof als de flexibele strepen haalde ik beide bij Textielstad. Ik schreef het al helemaal aan het begin, het patroon is nu extreem goedkoop. Met de code "sunshinesale" koop je zowel de kinderversie* als de volwassenen* versie nu voor maar $5.00 en $6.00. Dat is hetzelfde als de pre-release sale prijs van vorig jaar. Nooit was het patroon goedkoper dan nu.
